Yesterday we went to the WFU vs. NCSU state game. It was a great game. The Deacons won which is always a welcome bonus. Charlie wore red like Fred and Carrie Beth wore black and gold as did I. We had a Gold parking pass (super cool) so we parked close, tailgated, and caught up with some long time football fan friends. The kids ran around, scootered, jumped in the bouncy fun house, got their face painted, ate cupcakes and generally had a fabulous time.
Our sweet little family of 4 left our gracious tailgating host and went in to the game. We easily found our seats and then it started. Charlie: I am hungry. Can we go get something to eat? Not just one time but repeatedly. So, I asked Fred...should we just go ahead and get them a snack? Well, that is when we realized that we only brought in 23 dollars. So, I told the kids they could each have a bottled water and 1 snack. I tried to explain the difference between a treat that would last the whole game for example: cotton candy, pop corn, or peanuts vs. a treat that will be gone really fast like: ice cream, pretzel, dippin dots. So, What do you think the kids got for their snack? Charlie chose dippin dots (gone in 5 minutes) and Carrie Beth choose cotton candy (left the game with cotton candy). Fifteen dollars down $8 to go.
After treats were consumed the kiddos really seemed to really enjoy the game
In the meantime, Charlie was trying to figure out how to get another snack. His plan of attack was to act STARVING. So, he continued to complain of hunger pains, and questions regarding when the next opportunity for food would be. So, during the second quarter we took our $8 to see what kind of dent we could put in Charlie's hunger pains. We ended up with 1 hot dog with ketchup, 1 hot dog with ketchup and mustard, and $2. This carried us through the 2nd quarter. Boy, I was getting tired.
Not only did Fred have to deal with Charlie and his hunger drama...but he was sitting by an awkward man with a pom pom. Enough said.
Mom and Dad stopped by our seats at half time. I tried to encourage Charlie to go sit with them for the second half. I knew that they would assist in the hunger drama. But, no he did not want to go sit with them. Carrie Beth jumped right on it and went to sit with Mom and Dad. Lucky for her, they did not go sit down but went to a hospitality suite where the kids from the tailgate party were playing behind the end zone. They also had a really nice buffet that Charlie would have enjoyed. When Carrie Beth saw the buffet she told my Mom that Charlie was starving. Dad tried to text me but I did not get the message until we were in the car on the way home. Poor Charlie.
Right after Mom and Dad left with Carrie Beth...Charlie started crying saying that he wanted to go. Sorry Charlie, you missed your chance. They were gone and we could not find them. During the 3rd quarter we spend our last $2 on a juice box. When you have $2 at the WF stadium you will have a choice between a juice box or apple slices. Charlie does not really like apples. We were finally out of money.
During the 4th quarter I took Charlie to the bathroom. So, after his trip to the potty, we went for a walk. We walked all the way around the stadium and saw some of our friends. Charlie got a chance to run around a play in the rocks. This quarter passed by really fast. The game was over and I was exhausted.
We skipped the dinner reservation and came straight home ate a quick bite and put the kiddo's to bed. We were all so tired that no one complained about going to bed.
Home Sweet Home:)
How was the Carolina game? Was it exhausting as the WFU game?
